Production Stage Manager/Company Manager

Suncoast Broadway Dinner Theatre in Hudson, Florida is seeking a non-AEA Production Stage Manager/Company Manager for its 2022-2023 season. The two part-time positions shall combine to a full-time position.

Nine Month Contract: Late August – Late May 2022-2023

 

About the Company:

 

Suncoast Broadway Dinner Theatre is a 350-seat theatre located in Hudson, Florida providing live, Broadway-style musical theatre to 40k-50k patrons annually from the greater Tampa area.  who are seated at tables in the theatre and enjoy dinner prior to the performance. Professional talent is recruited nationally and housed during the tenure of the productions. Ensemble actors participate in food and beverage service prior to showtime and earn extra income via gratuities. Typical show week is Thursday-Sunday, 4-5 performances weekly. Productions typically have live pit orchestras, and utilize state-of-the-art intelligent lighting, wireless microphones for all actors and LED video wall scenery.

 

Stage Management 50%:
 

- Plan, coordinate, advance, implement, and oversee production details and logistics for theatrical productions and venue-presented concerts and events
- Advance productions and events; liaises between company and directors, designers, musicians, and technical operators to clarify production requirements
- Determine rehearsal schedules, crew needs, and call times, and schedules the appropriate personnel for these calls
- Serve as on-site contact for artistic staff
- Acts as stage manager for performances and may call or execute show cues.
- Leads and participates in varied crew calls for performance and non-performance events
- Assist with the enforcement of safety practices
- Secure facility when not in use
- Assists with training of part-time stage crews
- Attend most rehearsals

:

Company Management: 50%:

- Coordinate and serve as primary contact/scheduler for production staff, specifically full-time actors-in-residence

-  Arrange and coordinate travel and housing for artists-in-residence

- Maintain and enforcing company housing and vehicle policies to keep company property in good order

- Managing artistic staff scheduling and time-off

- Address artistic staff conflicts up to and including administering disciplinary actions in-line with company’s policies and procedures.

- Intake and orient new artistic staff. HR documentation, including but not limited to: preparing contracts, collecting tax forms, processing and signing timesheets, handling initial intake paperwork for all production-related positions

- Assist Producer in casting via organizing submissions, posting for roles, screening applicants, and corresponding with applicants.

- Ensuring adherence to legal and organizational policies and procedures

Position Requirements:

 

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail

- Assertive communication practices balancing positive, dispassionate and focused problem solving in when unexpected challenges arise.  

- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, QLab, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop

- Experience in musical theatre stage management

- Ability to read and understand musical scores preferred

- Basic understanding of theatrical lighting, special effects, rigging, set construction, costuming, audio production, video production and prop acquisition.

- Understanding of proper safety protocols for theatre, OSHA, fire codes and general building codes

- Must comply with SBDT’s policy requiring on-site staff to be fully vaccinated and boosted according to current CDC recommendations

- Valid Driver’s License

Suncoast Broadway is seeking a costume shop manager with some design experience for our 2022-2023 Broadway Season. Suncoast Broadway is equipped with a costume shop on-site with stocked costumes, machines, and supplies. Costumes could either be rented, sourced, or built and bought.  Shop manager may design some shows depending on experience and desire.

 

PAY: $500-700/wk (depending on experience) + Housing (if needed)

 

CANDIDATES SHOULD:

  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Have design and costume construction experience

  • Be an expert stitcher/sewist

  • Have good time management

  • Be a self-starter

  • Have a valid driver’s license

  • Note: Bringing your car is not required but highly recommended

 

DUTIES: (Will include (but are not limited to)

  • Coordinating costume rentals and designers for Suncoast’s 2022-23 season

  • Communicating with the production team and designers on design 

  • Sourcing rental packages

  • Sourcing or pulling all costumes 

  • Altering costumes to fit actors

  • Staying on or ahead of the production schedule 

  • Laundering all costumes during the run

  • Repairing costume problems during the run 

  • Serving as a host to check-in guests for performances as needed

Suncoast Broadway is seeking an experienced costume coordinator for our 2022-2023 Broadway Season. Suncoast Broadway is equipped with a costume shop on-site with stocked costumes, machines, and supplies. Costumes could either be rented, sourced, or built and bought.  Coordinator may come in for one or multiple shows.  Preference will be given to coordinator seeking a multi-show contract OR potential season contract.

 

PAY: $1500-2500/Design (depending on experience) + Housing (if needed)

CANDIDATES SHOULD:

  • Have excellent communication skills

  • Have design and costume construction experience

  • Be an expert stitcher/sewist

  • Have good time management

  • Be a self-starter

  • Have a valid drivers license

  • Note: Bringing your car is not required but highly recommended
